Third grade visited the Hawkeye Buffalo Ranch October 2. They learned all about buffalo from ice age fossils, to the modern day. Students perticiapted in the Indian Smudge ceremony (the traditional way Native Americans to ready themselves to hunt buffalo. Then they had a wagon ride into the pasture to meet the buffalo face to face. We found out they love corn, and how to feed them--it does take a special technique. Ask a third grader how it's done!
